Pastoral Care

ACTS is committed to fostering the well-being our learners, ensuring that the educational experience is both positive and supported. We have policies, processes, and support in place, designed to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all learners. 

As part of our commitment, ACTS fully adheres to the Tertiary Education Code of Practice, which outlines the minimum standards of care and support expected from tertiary education providers. In line with this, we ensure that:

  • Learners’ wellbeing and safety practices are reviewed to maintain a supportive and secure environment for all learners. 

  • Learners experience a physically safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that is responsive to the needs of all learners, where they are encouraged to engage and participate. 

  • Learners have access to clear, relevant information and services to support their physical and mental health and well-being, and we provide timely assistance when needed. 

  • The voices of our learners are heard and integrated into decision-making processes, ensuring their perspectives are respected and valued in all areas of student support. 

  • Learner complaints and disputes are addressed promptly and appropriately, with a clear process for resolving issues to ensure a fair and respectful resolution. 

  • Learners are supported to transition successfully into workplace experience, progress in their learning, and develop the knowledge, skills, and experience they need for future career opportunities. 

  • Learners experience an inclusive learning environment where they are respected, free from racism and discrimination, and able to connect with social and cultural networks that support their identity. 

  • The mana of learners is upheld by ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect, their cultural and personal identities are valued, and their voices are incorporated into decisions around student support services.
